DEB KARASIK
Deb began quilting twelve years ago, when her
daughter announced she was pregnant with triplets.
Deb soon joined the San Francisco Quilters Guild. There
she met Janet Mednick, who later helped Deb write her
book for the American Quilters Society, Quilt Mavens:
Perfect Paper Piecing.” Deb has developed an addictive
technique known as spiking. Each workshop covers
spiking basics.

ROB APPELL
Rob blends his love of the ocean with his work as a
textile artist and designer. It all started a few years ago
when Rob worked at his mother’s quilt shop, The Cotton
Ball, in Morro Bay, California. There he developed a
fondness for Hawaiian shirt making. Shirt scraps make
beautiful quilts, and now so does Rob. He teaches his
classes with a wild sense of humor.
MARGARET MILLER
Margaret’s quilts are made with exuberant colors, and
striped and variegated fabrics. Some are based on
simple ideas —multiple versions of single quilt blocks.
Other quilts, based on her Easy Pieces and Strips that
Sizzle techniques, feature simple blocks that encourage
quilt makers to play with colors and values in
unexpected ways.
HELENE KNOTT
Beginning her artistic journey at an early age, Helene’s
quilts have won Best of Country at theWorld Quilt
Competition and major awards at Paducah, Houston and
APNQ shows. In 2006 Helene was nominated for Teacher
of the Year by The Professional Quilter. Her articles and
patterns have been published in many magazines.
MARCI BAKER
Recognized internationally for her expertise in quilting,
Marci shares concepts combining her two loves: math and
quilting. Marci has authored a series of books featuring
traditional patterns made with simplified techniques. She
has been featured in Redbook, on Home and Garden TV’s
Simply Quilts, Quilters’ News Network, NBC’s The Jane
Pauley Show, and in American Quilter and Traditional
Quiltworks magazines.
