Happy Valley. Even the name hints
at the life you’ll find here. The first
citizens found that out. Drawn to its
verdant valleys, pioneers Christian
and Matilda Deardorff founded their
640 acre homestead in 1851 in what
is now the city’s geographic “bowl”
and still the heart of the community.
And, while you’ll find namesake roads,
historical spots and living descendants
of our city’s first pioneers, the little
town’s growth would most certainly
be a source of pride and amazement
to our early settlers.
Since the incorporation of the city in
1965 growth has been the norm with
an astonishing growth rate of 110%
seen in the past decade - the greatest
percentage of population growth of
any city in Oregon. People came in
search of safe neighborhoods, good
schools and parks and recreation
areas, all wrapped up in a rural charm
not to be found in the ‘big city’ way
of life. They found it here, and the
news gets better. Where people go,
business follows.
Residents will find excellent medical
and dental care, retail shops and
services, grocery stores, banks and
financial institutions and dining
choices galore. In these days of
green consumerism and eye-popping
gasoline prices, it’s good to know that
everything you need is close to home.
Happy Valley saved the best for last;
community events. Geared for family
fun, they present annual favorites,
each time bigger and better than the
year before.
The 4th of July Family
Festival
draws thousands of visitors
to a day filled with live music and
entertainment, food, amusement rides
and a spectacular fireworks display.
Summer Concerts in the Park
in July
and August finish the summer. Soon
after, it’s on to
Harvest Fest
and the
Christmas Tree Lighting.
Happy Valley. Where locals say;
“We’re a city. We’re a community.
We’re a lifestyle. Come and find out for
yourself- we’re waiting for you!”
