Watchmovies at the park
Starting July 25, head over to Millenni-
umPlaza Park on Thursdays at dusk to
watch movies. Make sure to bring blan-
kets, chairs and pillows, as well as an appetite
for popcorn and other treats. The first movie
shown will be “Wreck-it Ralph,” followed by
“Zookeeper” on Aug. 1, “Hotel Transylvania”
onAug. 8 and “Miracle” onAug. 15. All movies
are rated PG, so you can bring the whole fam-

Visit the Saturday Lake
Oswego Farmers’ Market
You can take care of all your grocery
needs at the Lake Oswego Farmers’
Market, which operates on Saturdays
from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at MillenniumPlaza
Park. The European-style market generally
features more than 80 vendors, each offering
an array of local products. Aside frombare es-
sentials, you can also find more exotic treats
at the market like organic doughnuts, om-
elets, tapas and cupcakes. The market runs

Celebrate poetry at the library
Fans of wordplay can head to the Lake
Oswego Public Library on June 18 for
an evening of poetry honoringWilliam
Stafford from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Award-winning
Northwest poets Carolyne Wright and Penel-
ope Scambly Schott will be on hand to present
their work, and the event will be emceed by
local poet TimBarnes. The event is presented
by the Friends of William Stafford and the li-

Play a round of golf
Nothing says summer like an after-
noon at the links. Head over to the
Lake Oswego Municipal Golf Course
at 17525 Stafford Road to play either nine or 18
holes between 6:30 a.m. and 9 p.m. Anine-hole
outing is $14 fromMonday through Thursday
and $16 between Friday and Sunday. Eighteen
holes, meanwhile, costs $23 from Monday
to Thursday and $26 over the weekend. The
course boasts a new green on the 18th hole,
which has been enlarged and reshaped. To

Watch the Millennium
Concert Band
Get your Independence Day celebra-
tion off to an early start July 3 with a
USO-style performance from the Mil-
lennium Concert Band. For this event, which
takes place at Millennium Plaza Park, direc-
tor Dale Cleland will lead the band through
a variety of patriotic, military and marching
numbers. The performance is designed to
honor military veterans and will feature a
ceremonial Presentation of Colors by the
Lake Oswego Police Honor Guard. Call the

Attend the Star Spangled
Parade
What’s the Fourth of July without
a parade? Head over to A Avenue
to either watch or participate in the
Star Spangled Parade, which will be led by a
Lake Oswego fire engine. The two best floats
will be awarded trophies at the end of the pa-
rade — but don’t forget that all cars must be
pre-registered with the parks and recreation
department. Staging takes place at 9 a.m. at
Lake Garden Court and the parade goes from
10 a.m. to 2 p.m. To register a float, call 503-697-
