concluding its 2013 season with Rick Lewis’
new holiday musical revue, “Plaid Tidings,”
at the Broadway Rose New Stage. In the
show, a quartet of heavenly singers is
brought back to earth for a posthumous
performance after a phone call from Rose-
mary Clooney. The gang needs to put a lit-
tle holiday harmony into a discordant
world. The boys perform musical favorites
from the 1950s and ’60s, along with a riot-
ous version of “The Ed Sullivan Show,” fea-
turing the Rockettes, the Chipmunks, and
The Vienna Boys Choir; and a Plaid Carib-
bean Christmas. Preview performance is
Wednesday, Nov. 27, with opening night on
Friday, Nov. 29, and performances continue
through Sunday, Dec. 22. Evening perfor-
mances are Thursdays through Saturdays
at 7:30 p.m. Matinees are at 2 p.m. on Sun-
days and on Saturdays, Dec. 8, 15 and 22.
The New Stage is located at 12850 S.W.

OREGON TURKEYTHON
— The family running
event takes place Thanksgiving morning,
Nov. 28, at Washington Square. It includes
5K, 10K, 2.5K and North Pole Kids races. San-
ta and Mrs. Claus will be present, and mobile
DJ Dave Ott will play holiday race music.

“SANTA SING-ALONG”
— Santa is touching
down at Broadway Rose to celebrate the
merriest season with a lively sing-along,
storytelling, snacks and a special gift for
each child. This festive event is Saturday,
Nov. 30, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., at the
Broadway Rose New Stage in Tigard. The
celebration offers a jolly opportunity for
young guests to meet Santa and deliver
their Christmas wish list in addition to
singing favorite holiday carols and hearing
a story read by St. Nick himself. Tickets are
$10 for children, $12 for adults. The New
Stage is located at 12850 S.W. Grant Ave.,

TIGARD DOWNTOWN HOLIDAY TREE LIGHTING
Santa and Mrs. Claus are coming to town
for the city’s annual Holiday Tree Lighting
in downtown Tigard. On Friday, Dec. 6, San-
ta will light the tree at Liberty Park (the
small park at the corner of Southwest Main
Street and Pacific Highway). The event be-
gins at 7 p.m., with Kevin Bates of Sympo-
sium Coffee serving as emcee. Santa and
Mrs. Claus will arrive, as usual, accompa-
nied by Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue fire-
fighters for the tree-lighting ceremony.
From there, the party moves down the
street to CrossFit P.A.W., 12215 S.W. Main
St., where kids will get the chance to sit
down with Santa and discuss their Christ-
mas wish list while they rock out to music
and dancing by the Tualatin Valley Com-
munity Band. Cider, hot chocolate and
cookies will be available as well.
“HOLIDAY HARMONIES”
— The Tualatin Valley
Community Band, under the direction of
Steve Heuser, will present a free holiday
concert on Saturday, Dec. 7, at 7 p.m. in the
Tualatin High School auditorium, 22300
S.W. Boones Ferry Road. The 65-member,
all-age concert band will perform festive
holiday pieces including traditional Hanuk-
kah music, Christmas carols, Leroy Ander-
son’s “Sleigh Ride,” music for band and
handbells, an audience sing-along and
much more. The concert is free, but dona-
tions will be accepted. For more information

VICTORIAN CHRISTMAS CELEBRATION
— Festive
lighting and the aroma of freshly baked gin-
gerbread cookies will greet you at the Ti-
gard Historical Association’s annual holiday
open house at the John Tigard House on
Saturday, Dec. 7, from 1 to 4 p.m. Trees, gar-
lands and other holiday decorations will
brighten the 1882 house with period orna-
ments. Cookie decorating for the children is
always a treat as well as candy canes for all.
Santa will greet children on the front porch
with the very warmest holiday greetings.
The John Tigard House is located at the
corner of 103rd Street and Canterbury Lane
in Tigard. Admission is free, but donations
are welcome.
