About 6,400 people are de-
fined as “homeless” in the Port-
land Metro area on any given
night. A large percentage of
these people are women and
children. They are our neigh-
bors. With help, these families
can find safe shelter.
Michelle, a 19 year old girl
in “Beaverton has personal
experience with homeless-
ness. Through a transitional
living program with Boys &
Girls Aid, Michelle not only
found shelter, but resources
and support to get on a path
she wanted to be on for her
future. Boys & Girls Aid gave
her the skills to be the grown-
up she wants to become - self
reliant, responsible and educat-
ed. The transitional living pro-
gram facility run by Boys & Girls
Aid was made possible by the
generous support of the Home
Builders Foundation and HBA
builder members who gave of
their time and resources.
The Foundation celebrated
Michelle’s success last month
at the Home Builder Founda-
tion’s annual auction - The
Black & White Gala. Thank
you to those who came out
to support the HBF – with
your help, we can truly
make a difference in the
lives of people like Michelle.
