The quar terly Remodelers
Round Table breakfast is an op-
portunity for remodeler mem-
bers of the PRO to discuss issues
that are affecting their business.
Over 20 PROs signed up to at-
tend the breakfast on February
14 where we discussed the chal-
lenges of educating consumers to
the value of hiring a professional
remodeler in a world that is so
heavily influenced by DIY shows
on HGTV. A lively and fruitful dis-
cussion ensued over breakfast.

Thanks to the generous sup-
port of NW Natural, HBA mem-
bers from Portland Metro and
Marion Polk enjoyed Ski Day at
Mt Hood Meadows on February
6.
More than 40 members en-
joyed a fairly calm day on the
mountain with a ray of sunshine
beaming in here and there.
While the majority hit the slopes,
some folks came along just for
the opportunity to meet new
members and talk about doing
some business together!
Ski Day takes place the first
Wednesday of each February
and we’d like to see it grow next
year. Each year our members tell
us how much fun it is and what
great relationships are made
over the course of the day, says
Nancy Haskin, VP of Member-
ship, Shows and Education.

More than 200 HBA members
from around the Oregon region
joined us for our annual hospital-
ity suite at Yolo’s in Planet Hol-
lywood Hotel and Casino at last
Month’s International Builders
Show in Las Vegas. “This was the
biggest group that we’ve had at
our hospitality in many years and
it was great to see so many of our
members reconnecting, talking
about projects for this year, and
exchanging business cards in or-
der to get together when they re-
turned home,” said Nancy Haskin,
HBAMP Vice President.
Additionally an award check
was presented by NAHB to the
HBA of Metropolitan Portland in
the amount of $5350 for being
third in the nation for the fastest-
growing HBA. Metro Portland
had an 8.5 percent growth in in
2012. More than 75 percent of
other homebuilders association
saw their membership decline
in 2012, and only 5 percent saw
“substantive growth.”
