about andy Duyck:
Chairman Andy Duyck was sworn into
office as the Washington County Board
Chair in January 2011. He was elected as a
Washington County Commissioner in 1994
and served 16 years as the District 4 repre-
sentative.
Chairman Duyck currently serves on 11
industry boards and committees.
Last year, at the September PRO meeting,
we asked the PROs what their favorite pro-
gram of the year was. Everyone who had at-
tended agreed that the Dave Mitchell semi-
nar was the best thing the HBA had offered
in ages – So we brought him back! We have officially cancelled
the PRO meeting for this month so that you can attend the Dave
Mitchell event the day before, on March 19th, at the HBA. It will
be one of the best investments of time you spend on yourself and
your team this year! Dave Mitchell teaches about recognizing and
communicating with different personality types, and he does it
with humor and his own brand of entertainment. This event will
sell out – so call (503) 684-1880 today to register.

Energy Trust of Oregon brings efficiency ratings to Tour of Remodeled Homes
EPS scores for the 2013 Tour of Remodeled Homes
were made possible by:
The 2013 Tour of Remodeled
Homes presented by Standard
TV & Appliance is introducing a
new feature and a new sponsor!
Most of the 2013 Tour homes will
feature EPS, from Energy Trust of
Oregon.
EPS is an energy performance
scoring tool that uses a series
of home energy measurements
that, when combined, provides
a score representing the energy
efficiency of a home, as com-
pared to a similar-sized home in
Oregon. With EPS, the lower the
score, the more energy-efficient
the home. An EPS can range from
zero to over 200, with scores
closer to zero representing better
energy efficiency.
An EPS score sheet provides a
visual representation of a home’s
estimated energy use and carbon
footprint-before and after the
remodeling project. The score
sheet also includes numbers for
an average home in Oregon with
similar square footage, showing
the estimated improvements
the home can achieve, and how
it relates to other similarly-sized
homes. This apple to apple com-
parison helps homeowners see
the difference energy-efficiency
upgrades can make in an indi-
vidual home’s performance. The
2013 Tour of Remodeled Homes
is the first time consumers can
view EPS score sheets to under-
stand the impact of the energy
improvements made in a remod-
eled home. Homes with an EPS
score will be designated in the
Tour ticket books by the EPS logo.
The industry and our mem-
bership are very excited to have
EPS as part of the 2013 Tour. With
the expansion of EPS to exist-
ing homes, a homeowner can
get a clear picture of the energy
savings provided through their
home remodel, which may help
more consumers see the ad-
ditional value to make energy-
efficiency improvements when
remodeling their homes.
The PRO would like to thank
Standard TV & Appliance for
hosting a fun and delicious eve-
ning of networking and prizes on
February 13 at their Beaverton
showroom. Linda Blackwood, of
Interiors by Blackwood walked
away with the half of the raffle
pot while Vice Chair, and stand-in
meeting leader, Theresa Springer
took home the night’s biggest
prize, a ten-piece stainless steel
cookware set! Through the sup-
port of companies like Standard
TV & Appliance who host our
monthly meetings, the Profes-
sional Remodelers Organiza-
tion is able to provide dynamic
opportunities to meet other
professionals in the remodeling
industry and build strong and
beneficial collaborative relation-
ships. Join us on March 19 at the
Dave Mitchell special event or at
our next regularly scheduled PRO
meeting on April 17 for An Eve-
ning at BASCO. Contact Jessica
M. for more info.
