BUILDING YOUR BUSINESS

HBA HOME BUILDING NEWS

A note from
the Chair:
This year
should be
a
change
for many of us in a positive way.
We should see an up-tick in our
workloads, we should advance
our education through the many
opportunities that are offered by
the HBA, and we should become
stronger as an association. Our
purpose is to promote the re-
model professional and to learn
from each other to better our-
selves, our sales closing ratios,
our project management and
our job control. Many of these
items are discussed in detail in
our Remodelers Round Tables
and Associates Round Tables,
which were developed so each
group could discuss, openly, all
current issues and help each
other become stronger and bet-
ter at making our businesses
sound. I invite Remodelers and
Associates to check the schedule
and attend and participate in the
appropriate Round Table discus-
sion. The more who attend, the
more beneficial the discussion
becomes for these groups. Af-
ter all – it is all done for you. We
said a fond farewell last month to
Mitch Stanley – one of the build-
ing blocks of PRO who gave tire-
lessly of his time and knowledge
to make our group stronger. He
has taken a new life direction for
his family which is a sound move.
We wish him the “best of luck.”
His contribution will be missed.
I would like to ask Remodelers,
especially, to start attending our
monthly meetings. They are both
educational and provide an ex-
cellent opportunity for us to get
to know one another better. Our
personal connectionmakes the
remodel community stronger by
promoting real professional re-
modelers. We are all busy, and
hopefully getting busier, but just
an hour and a half a month will
help your business and our indus-
try thrive. It is time well spent. A
big thanks to all who pitched in
and helped with our Santa house
endeavor this year. It was a major
success. A special thanks to the
associate members and HBA staff
who made a big contribution. It
was a great, fun and productive
time for all of us. Have a good
month.

PRO Monthly Meeting
Wednesday, Feb. 13, 5-7 pm
Standard TV & Appliance
Beaverton showroom • 3600 SW Hall Blvd.
On Wednesday, January 16, in
a room full of photos chronicling
the Stanleys’ participation and
sometimes zany antics, HBA and
PRO members gathered to cel-
ebrate, remember, and share a
few stories about the impact this
dynamic family has had on our
industry and organization for the
last several years. The Stanleys
have been active members since
2006 andMitch served as the PRO
Chair in 2009 and 2010. During his
chairmanship the group changed
its name from Remodelers Coun-
cil to Professional Remodelers
Organization and began some
of our most popular programs,
including the Remodelers Round
Table breakfasts. Mitch and Ar-
lene Stanley are starting a new
chapter and closing the books
on the businesses that have tied
them to the HBA and PRO com-
munity for so long. We wish them
good fortune in their new en-
deavors and hope to see them
again soon! A huge PRO thank
you goes out to Steve Frazier and
Contract Furnishings Mart for
supplying the evening’s liquid
refreshments, and to current PRO
officers Steve Stolze and Theresa
Springer for sponsoring the deli-
cious appetizers.
HBA and PRO wish Stanleys good luck in new adventure
