Avenues is
a 35 acre state of the art sports com-
plex for baseball/softball and soccer
and top notch player amenities fea-
turing all-weather turf and wireless
scoreboard systems. Visitors currently
enjoy a panoramic mountain view, a .12
mile walking path, picnic facilities, restrooms and
ample parking. Future site plans include a skate
park and a playground.
Honoring the Boy Scouts’ legacy, the
Scouter’s
Mountain Natural Area
will incorporate pieces of the
original Chief Obie Lodge in a planned picnic shelter that
will be built for visitors and future hikers and bird watch-
ers to sit and appreciate the view offered more than 700
feet above the valley floor. Visitors will soon be walking
the tranquil trails throughout this beautiful Douglas fir for-
est. The area is scheduled for use this year, and will also
feature restrooms and available parking.
Don’t miss the chance to explore the extensive trail sys-
tem that winds throughout the City. A fold-out
trail map
in
this publication will put you on the right path, and show
locations for other neighborhood parks and green spaces
to visit.
Bring your binoculars to
Mount Talbert Nature
Park,
another marvel of nature located south of
Sunnyside Road with trailhead access at Mather
Road. Four miles of well-marked loop trails
traverse this extinct volcanic butte, complete with
interpretive signs to provide information about
the plant and animal life to be found.
