Clackamas County Event Center is home to

the Clackamas County Fair for a week every
August.

As the county’s major agriculture and industrial

exposition, it is a popular event bringing in folks
from all over the county. Last year’s fair attendance
numbered 145,295 – the best attendance since 1998.

However, that attendance figure represents just
half of the event center’s usage. Executive Director
Laurie Bothwell says that more than 300,000 people

passed through the gates in 2013. What goes on at
the center the other 51 weeks of the year? It gets
used a lot, by lots of different groups.

“To most, the event center is a place people come
six days out of the year at attend the county fair and

Canby rodeo,” said Bothwell. “The truth is that the
event center is a deeply rooted community asset.”
