I am so pleased you have picked up this publication to learn more about Beaverton. Our goal was to create a one-stop guide for community, visitor and business information. The result has been a true partnership between the Beaverton Area Chamber of Commerce and the City. This is an exciting time in our community. Through a tremendous amount of work from volunteers, we have a well-formed Community Vision that has set the course for where we are headed. We have built partnerships to make that vision a reality. As Mayor, I am focused on

building relationships, fostering community involvement and supporting our business community.

I hope you fnd Beaverton a Welcoming, Friendly, Responsible, Vibrant and Athletic community. We’re a culturally diverse city that is experiencing the typical growth and change of a suburban community. We are home to more than 90,000 people who beneft from the best school system, park district and public safety services the region can offer.

We are also a community that supports our local businesses. I think it is a testament to our city’s strength that in the midst of such challenging economic times, we’ve seen the $60 million dollar Progress Ridge development move forward. We’ve

opened new, thriving family-entertainment businesses, and we’ve started a fund for workforce training that has directly added new jobs to our economy.

I like to say, “Beaverton is waking up—and helping businesses win.” We have so much to offer, and I feel so privileged to serve as your Mayor. We like to think of our city motto, “Beaverton, the Best of Oregon” as a call to action, to keep moving forward. I can assure you, at City Hall, we will do our part to work with you to keep that promise.

Welcome to the new Business Resource Directory and Visitors Guide for Beaverton, “The Best of Oregon”. This collateral is a perfect demonstration of what I truly believe makes our new City motto accurate – partnerships, collaboration, a willingness to change the way things are done all for one common good – to strengthen our local economy and create jobs. The City and Chamber have partnered to produce an even more comprehensive

guide to all things Beaverton and more than doubled the distribution – good for you and our advertisers.

Great things are happening in our community. We have completed our 30 year Vision plan, we have adopted our Civic plan and will, in short order, be considering an Urban Renewal plan for our downtown area. We are poised for great re-development and private investments that will spur job growth and improve our quality of life. This Guide is a tremendous tool to help you support your locally owned and operated businesses. Shopping local is important….it is, in fact, vital! Please reference this guide and frequent our

members and advertisers. They believe in Beaverton and I know you do to! If you have a business in our area and want to join forces with an active, positive, energetic association of business and community leaders dedicated to improving the quality of life in the Beaverton area… we’d love to have you! It feels good to make a difference.
