— This lively suburban community has a lot to offer, so cele-

brate with Beaverton Celebration Day on Saturday, Sept. 7. It all begins with a community-

wide parade at 10 a.m., starting from Southwest Wilson Avenue and Allen Boulevard. For more

HIGHLAND GAMES

— There will be music,

dancing, piping, drum-

ming and great feats of

athletic strength at

this year’s Portland

Highland Games. The

big day is Saturday, Ju-

ly 20 at Mt. Hood Com-

munity College in

Gresham. Scottish or

not, you’ll want to be

there to witness as

competitors throw a

96-pound stone or

heave a 120-pound

spruce log in the caber

toss. The 12-hour cele-

bration is full of enter-

tainment for all ages.
